Sara Jane -she/her- Salon Owner, Curator, Stylist & Colorist

Welcome! I’m Sara Jane, the owner of Moon Baby. I started honing my craft in the punk and music scene in Boston from a very young age, where I learned how important self expression is through so many different mediums, especially hair. I began creating behind the chair in the South End of Boston, where I quickly acquired a following. I then operated independently, sparking my interest in offering other stylists an inclusive, creative and team based space to create and grow. Its important to me to offer a space where artists and stylists can express themselves behind the chair, offering hair services that bring them just as much joy as it brings their clients.

Moon Baby also offers cruelty free and vegan friendly products, as animal rights are extremely important to me, as well as human rights.

As a Salem local, I wanted to bring something new to the city I fell in love with, a creative and welcoming place for self-expression. I specialize in formulating copper and red tones, vivid colors as well as classic and current haircuts.

Moon Baby is located in the heart of Downtown Salem and won an award from Historic Salem for “Best Adapted Reuse of a Historic Space” which can be seen in the salon from original brick, replica tin ceilings as well as a window that was unearth during construction.

CHRISTINE

Christine -she/her- Stylist & Colorist

I have been dedicating myself to my craft for well over 15 years now. Previously working in the Boston area, I decided to take my love of hair and creating behind the chair to Salem, Ma to be immersed in the inclusive, diverse, artsy vibe of the Witch City.

I love using my razor to create soft lived in shags & creative cuts. Color theory and formulation are my absolute favorite, especially for clients seeking big transformations, vivid colors, blonding and vibrant reds. Whenever you’re in my chair I want to create hair that expresses your true self.

When not behind the chair I’m enjoying time with my cats, trying new restaurants, listening to podcasts, reading thrillers and watching anything from reality tv (guilty pleasure) to critically exclaimed shows.

BRIANA

Briana -she/her- Master Stylist & Colorist, Color Educator/Salon Consultant

After spending a huge part of my career in the hair industry in Boston, I am thrilled to be a part of Moon Baby, working behind the chair in my hometown, Salem MA.

My main focus is to create a personal style for each individual who sits in my chair, all while educating clients on how to care for their hair at home. My specialties are balayage, vivids, custom color and color corrections.

I thrive when I am learning, as continuing my education to advance my skills behind the chair is so important to me. My goals are maintaining clients hair health and working with their lifestyles for future maintenance, all while creating the best hair for you!

When I am not doing hair, I enjoy hanging out with my dog, Crash, and watching horror movies. I also love going to concerts, as punk and rock & roll have always been a huge inspiration for me. I also have a bad case of wanderlust, and enjoy traveling to new cities and countries I have never explored before.

NICOLE

Nicole -she/her- Stylist & Colorist, In House Salon Educator

My name is Nicole and I’ve been told my vibe behind the chair is classically refined with a heavy dash of rock & roll! I love creating custom colors and craft haircuts for all of my clients individually, from killer shags and mullets to lived in low maintenance looks and blonding. No cookie cutter hair here!

In my free time, I’m usually bugging my cats Jolene and Tony , watching horror movies, riding my motorcycle and eating Italian food. North shore born and raised babbyyyy!

KATE

Kate -she/they- Stylist/Colorist & Craft Cutting Specialist

Welcome! I have always embraced nonconformity in the hair industry and am honored to bring my craft to Moon Baby.

I specialize in the art of mullets, shags, short/clipper cuts, vivid fashion colors and alternative cuts that challenge the “norm” but have also loved worked with balayage techniques and “lived in” looks.

I have an appreciation for all things horror/macabre related, thrifting for rare finds, and spending time with my family and creatures at home. With hair, I channel the spirit of the 80s - punk, goth, new wave, and hair metal fashion.

I hold a safe space in my craft, offering clients the most comfort while achieving the version of themselves they want to be. I am so grateful to find a space that really celebrates the strange and the unusual♡

LINDSEY RAE

Lindsey Rae -she/her- Stylist/Colorist & Craft Cutting Specialist

Hi everyone, my name is Lindsey. I started my journey behind the chair at Moon Baby in 2019 where I honed my craft for two years before heading off to Portland, Oregon. After four years in PDX, I have now made my way back home!

I have really built my craft in the last four years I spent in Portland. Embracing natural texture in the hair, finding what cut works best for you and your hair has been my main focus over the last few years.

I enjoy doing everything from short mullets to long dreamy layered hair. Someone once said that my specialty is creating queer, femme hair for the fairies but I love to work with all my clients as a team to create the hair they envision, from custom creative coloring to the softest balayages and classic to specialty haircuts.

If i’m not working you can find me wandering the forest, on a long drive to distant lands, making chainmaille, doing photography, giggling with my friends, or being cozy at home with my cat child, Coraline.

KACEY LYNN

Kacey Lynn -she/her- Stylist/Colorist

Hi! My name is Kacey Lynn! Even though I originally started my craft on the South Shore where I grew up, I have slowly been making my way north, from Somerville to now the North Shore. My move to Moon Baby was a few years in the making and I’m so happy to be a part of the team! I’ve been creating hair behind the chair for about a decade now, and love working with lived in looks, the most vibrant vivids and more natural looks, like a true balayage. I love it all!

I love the transformation process and working with the client to find different forms of inspiration, from music/movies, art nature, and the list is on going. Anything can be inspiration when it comes to making a client feel their truest selves!

When I’m not doing hair, I like traveling as much as possible, skiing, live music, all things Spooky/Disney and Drag! I am a crazy cat mom of 3 fur babies, Lucifer, Binx and Lola, and they are my pride and joy!

Courtney -she/her- Stylist/Colorist

Hello, I’m Courtney! I have been dedicated to my craft for centuries! (yes I am immortal)

Music is one of my biggest influences in life as well as the glamorous side of vampy starlets.

I love to create all things that are custom and crafted for you, your hair and lifestyle. My favorite things are rock n roll inspired shags, vivid colors, especially neon greens and pinks, the edgiest haircuts and big hair with all the texture. I love the alchemic nature of customizing and formulating the perfect color for each of my clients.

I have a cat named Grimm, who is my familiar. I spend a lot of time walking in nature, amongst the trees and appreciate a good gloomy rainy day. I love books as much as music, and I am always welcoming recommendations for new books to read and bands to check out!

Kelsey -she/her- Stylist & Colorist, Curly Hair Specialist & In House Educator

Hello! Since starting my career behind the chair in 2018 I’ve been living my dream of creating art and making people feel their very best. I’m proud to be the fourth generation in my family to be in this industry! I specialize in dry curly cutting and hold a certificate from Deva Curl Education and I’m passionate about teaching people to love their texture. Creative custom colors and vivids bring me so much joy, I always love a good transformation! You can also find me doing blonding, balayage and other current hair trends.

Being raised in the Northshore there’s nowhere else i’d rather call home! If I’m not at the salon you can find me in a hot yoga class or hanging out with my cats. I can’t wait to see you in my chair!

Angelica -they/them- Stylist/Colorist

Hey y’all! My name is Angelica and I am a Stylist & Colorist here at Moon Baby. Since becoming a part of the Moon Baby team, I’ve been enjoying learning how to hone my craft behind the chair while working hands on with the other stylists at Moon Baby. Currently, my favorite things to do behind the chair are shags, custom lived in looks/color and vivids. I love making clients feel seen and heard, especially when it comes to gender affirming and genderless haircuts and color. One of my main goals is to create a safe space for everyone, especially the lgbtqia+ community.

In my free time you catch me on discord while gaming, hanging out with my dog, Sable, or enjoying time with friends/family. As a salem local, I can also be found walking around downtown, probably in search of coffee.

Melissa -she/her- Salon Manager & Coordinator

Hi! I've been managing salons off and on since 2006. In addition to being a type A control freak who LOVES scheduling appointments, I am also the lead singer of the band The Innsmouth Look, a chainmaille jewelry creator, and I enjoy performing horror burlesque.

I wanted to work at Moon Baby ever since I moved to Salem in 2017. I am thrilled to be part of the team and I love contributing to the growth of our witchy little salon.

August -they/them- Front of House

Howdy! My name is August (They/Them). I’m originally from California and moved to Salem, MA in 2022.

My first love is film, but I love anything I can get my hands on artistically. My first professional job was working as an editor, but I’ve also been a florist and barista, which reflects my deep love of plants and coffee. I still love filming and editing in my spare time, and have many scripts and small projects that I want to produce.

My new career shift is inspired by my oldest brother, who has been a hairdresser for 20 years. I had the privilege of having my own personal stylist and being a guinea pig to him most of my life. I look up to him greatly, and he’s always planted the seed (many times) for me to also do hair. I love doing my own hair and like experimenting with it frequently! I wanted to be apart of Moon Baby, so I can lurk the day to day of a salon before I commit to school. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be here in an LGBTQAI+ inclusive space, as well as an environmentally conscious salon.

I’m so happy to offer my help as one of the folks who makes coming in and checking out of your appointments with us feel warm and welcoming!

Meg she/her - Lead Salon Assistant

Hello! My name is Meg and I am the Lead Salon Assistant at Moon Baby. I have worked in salons from Newbury Street to Cambridge. I am a Salem local and cherish that I can offer my expertise in a city that I love. I’m famous for my incredible head massages. You may have heard about them, as they are the talk of the town. I also work in the Witch City Wicks Candle Studio, where I assist in making so many of their amazing offerings. Del -she/her- Salon Assistant

Hey there! I’m an assistant here at Moon Baby Hair Salon and a licensed stylist as of May 2024. A little bit about me, I’m also a huge lover of all things music and art. I dabble in electric guitar and percussion. I’m always looking for new ways to challenge myself creatively, whether it’s trying out a new medium or refining the skills I already have. Bright vivid colors and blonding styles are my favorites types of styles. I love to create custom colors and give people a personalized look that makes them feel their most authentic and confident selves. Don’t be shy, say hi!

Mia -she/her- Salon Assistant

Hi everyone, I’m Mia! I found a love for the arts at a young age diving into different art mediums until I found hairdressing and knew it was my calling. I love the fact that this industry allows us to express our creativity and offer a space to express yours too! I always strive to create a safe space in my chair and help people to feel comfy in their own skin <3

Some of my favorite things are 70s shags, modern mullets, and colorful vivids. I’ve always loved the punk scene and how it allows us to be creative and “strange”. I feel like Moon Baby also allows us all to be creative and “strange” and I’m so happy to be apart of that! On a day off you can find me on a walk in nature surrounded by trees, journaling or drawing, making some jewelry, or maybe even at a concert! (most likely a Pierce the Veil concert)

CAMRYN

Camryn -she/her- Salon Assistant

Hello! My name is Camryn! I am thrilled to step my best foot forward into this industry as a team member of the admirable Moon Baby Hair Salon.

I have always had a passion & knack for all things creative. From cutting my baby brother’s hair as a 5 year old, to offering makeup and hairstyling for photoshoots to friends throughout the years, among many other artistic mediums. This has given me a fiery passion to gracefully emerge into this incredible industry.

My love of astrology and practicing Wicca, paired with being a part of the restaurant industry for 10+ years, (I also am a craft mixologist in a hidden speakeasy), has given me the strength & skills to dive into my true calling with confidence, as a member of such an eccentric & accepting environment. I am beyond excited to learn hands on with so many talented stylists. Once again, Thank you Moon Baby!
